Santa Fe Day One
A perfect start to the first day of vacation. A good night's sleep coupled with getting to sleep in ~ oh yes, a perfect start to our first day! Enjoy a cup of coffee and a slow start feels ~ oh it feels so good.
Follow up:
My husband was up at dawn because his theory about vacation is that you need to use each hour of vacation and he believes sleep robs you of productive fun time. Finally we have gotten him on board with letting us slow down a little. He used his time productively and spent the early morning in the garden reading and responding to some of his work emails and calls.
We started our day off in the wrong direction. Work calls and then we realized we had to back track. We were not too prepared for this trip...but we found our way.
We went on the walking tour around the town square. The weather is beautiful, sky clear and blue, and the architecture is refreshingly different! It feels like we have stepped back in time. The Adobe and Mayan influence stay here as a reminder of the past. It is beautiful here.
Birthday dinner and definately seeking savory desserts happens tonight!
Tomorrow we are going to Albuquerque for the balloon festival and then possibly a drive to Taos Ski Resort. We are hoping to find a place that we can return to in the winter so that my youngest can ski again. She really enjoys skiing but has only had a couple of times on the slopes. She is really pretty good and loves this sport! I wish she could ski more often.
I did not realize that fly fishing was an activity option here! Darn. I loved my day of fly fishing in Yellowstone this past summer and would have eagerly dragged by husband out for lessons this trip. He is not an outdoorsman but would be a good sport and would go with me if I planned it. Note to self, do that next time...get fly fishing on the agenda!
