Hurricane Ike

Laurie handles IQ and Achievement Testing for Creative Tutors. She owns her own Diagnostic Learning Services. She is awesome and I cannot hardly recall a time when I did not know her. We met several years ago after I had seen her ad in a local children’s publication. I emailed her. We hit if off instantly.
Follow up:
Today, I find myself in Houston with her as she is here to test three children of a new prospective client. I came to help out and to meet the clients too. We arrived at the office building that she has access to in Houston.
It is completely under remodeling. We both were just thinking that the building was undergoing those typical updates that happen about every 10 years. Then we noticed a note left on the receptionist table.
Excuse the mess. “We are repairing the office after the damage from Hurricane Ike. During Hurricane Ike the building lost windows and sustained extensive damage; to include in the damage the building has separated from the foundation.”
Note reads that they are not worried that the foundation and the building are separated from one another??? I am.
Laurie and I laugh. We are not accustomed to hurricanes and their damage! We realized this after we made a fatal mishap and assumed a building was going through decorating updates instead of hurricane repairs. It is easy to forget that time passes and the aftermath of such destruction takes time to repair and return for life to return to full throttle!
